Sloan School of Management Uses Neuron Global for Annual Financial Conference
BOSTON—The role of the CFO—the chief financial officer of a corporation—has rapidly evolved and expanded in recent years, bringing challenges for both longtime holders of the position and newcomers to the finance organization. These include a new focus on short-term results; increased activism by boards of directors, hedge funds, and institutional investors; and new regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley that require new reports.
When the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) held its 2006 conference to assess these developments and changes, scores of CFOs and other financial executives attended seven different panel discussions and two keynote addresses. Or tried to—of course, the sessions overlapped and no one could be at every session.
Neuron Global to the rescue: the company exists to fill the gap that looms for every conference attendee. Beyond that, it helps to solve the pressing problem of high-value knowledge loss and information overload during events and conferences. Its “Conference Insight Report” (CIR), an executive summary of all parts of the conference, allows attendees—and non-attendees too, of course—to learn and remember more, and access knowledge from sessions they could not attend.
“You need a CFO who has a sense of the big picture,” Steven Isakowitz, former controller of NASA, told the MIT audience of CFOs. “It is not just a matter of dollars and sense; the CFO is in a unique position to understand the product, its [costs], and the market, and what opportunities are out there. A proverb says, ‘He understands the price of everything and the value of nothing.’ That is something that CFOs need to prevent.”
Neuron Global helps CFOs get the “big picture”. The CIR for the conference comprised seven panel discussions and two keynote addresses, including “The Habits of Highly Successful CFOs,” “Reporting and Investor Relations,” “Difficult Choices, Successful Leaders,” and “Private Equity Impact on M&A Decisions.” Attendees can draw new conclusions and gain insights into trends that are woven through separate sessions in the integrated report provided by Neuron Global.
Sedarius Tekara Perrotta of Neuron Global added, “CFOs are the financial thought leaders of their organizations. The CI report will help CFOs learn from their peers about best practices, lessons learned and key strategies in ways that were previously not possible.”
